The development of Cobi started in an effort to solve a problem with most tables. The four legs of a typical table can easily get in the way of a user. We wanted to make central base tables with varying heights so that the user could nest together without having a mess of legs getting in the way.
A project full of challenges
At the start of this project, we had our first challenge. How to make a center base table that is stable enough that it would pass all testing. While solving this challenge we encountered our next one. This table was becoming more and more heavy as it became more and more stable. Meaning if the user wanted to move it, they would need several people to help. In the end we developed a series of removable weights that allowed the table to be easily moved while still meeting all safety requirements.
These challenges and the many more surrounding this development was what made it such an enjoyable project.
